Medicating in the Early A.M. 2, Original Comic Book Art by Josh Neufeld from Harvey Pekar’s AMERICAN SPLENDOR

$250.00

This is Page 2 (of 4) from a short story, “Medicating in the Early A.M.”, that appeared in AMERICAN SPLENDOR #3, published by Vertigo/DC in 2006. The late, great Harvey Pekar wrote it, and Josh Neufeld hand-drew it on 11″ x 17″ egg-white Bristol board (provided by DC/Vertigo). (It was digitally lettered, so this page is wordless except for the hand-drawn title.) The page has retained the ink nicely, with some browning/discoloration — which gives it character!

As Ian Dawe of the Sequart Organization wrote about this story, “Pekar’s love for cats is also very sweetly depicted, such as in this sequence from ‘Medicating in the Early A.M,’ illustrated by Josh Neufeld. While some writers may have abstracted this sort of human-cat relationship, making it all metaphorical, or perhaps dwelt on some sort of mystical Gaia-inspired connection between species, Pekar simply tells the story, honestly and frankly. And it becomes all the more moving and profound because of it.”

All original art will be securely packed, shipped via Priority Mail, which takes roughly 2 days to arrive and has a tracking number for domestic orders. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
